Hi ya'll, I am an LVN and am transitioning to RN. However I am looking at the regular college transition, but now would love to hear from anyone that has done the Excelsior, College Network, Rue type programs. Are they worth it? Do the empolyers seem reluctant to hire due to the self taught method? Also were you prepared for the NCLEX? Thanks!

Employers for the most part don't care where you went to school. I know of no one who was not hired because they went to Excelsior. It is a viable option for many. However, you would be wise to forgo the publishing companies, The College Network, Rue, Chancellors, etc. They are unnecessary and only add expensive contracts to a program that can be done without them. You can buy the study materials from these publishing companies at a fraction of the contract price, used, on ebay. Many times these study guides are sold with the plastic still on the binders/books.
