LVN Rate in Southern California

Published

Hello, I have a question. What is the hourly rate in Southern California for LVNs? I've heard different SNFs paying $32, some $35, and near $40 per hour. I've been an LVN since 2016. I applied for an SNF position for $35 per hour and $38.50 per hour for NOC pay differential. I've been in this SNF facility since late 2021. I got my first evaluation 4 months later with an increase of 50 cents, and I haven't had another evaluation since then, and my rate of $35.50 remains the same. So, my question is, should a facility have yearly increases? Or at least yearly evaluations? I feel like I'm missing something here, especially when I find out a newly grad received a $35/hr starting rate in this facility. What's your take on this?

You should be receiving at least 40.00$ per hour in that kind of stressful environment. I make 38.50$ per hour working in a medical group home which is not stressful at all.

It definitely is going to depend on experience and location. I'm in the Inland Empire with much experience and working SNF you are lucky if you can get $35/hr. San Diego is going to pay better because the cost of living is higher. And yes there SHOULD be yearly evaluations and increases, but reality is they don't do them in my experience. Also completely understand the frustration of new nurses coming in and making almost the same as you that are seasoned and have seniority. I know people that will leave and then come back later so that they can get the higher pay rate. Do what you gotta do girl.

I worked in an assisted living facility in San Diego. My starting rate was $38 and my rate was $39.43 when I left in October of 2023 to move back home. I also worked for Clipboard and my rates were between $38 and $45.
