Have you tried MiraCosta? I heard they have a good LVN program. I don't have any other ideas though. Good luck!

You can find an LVN program in your area by going to the web site for the California Board of Practical Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians. They have a link there to view all the board approved LVN programs in California. You will find the schools in your area from that list. To get to that web site, run your mouse over the "links" button at the very top right of this page. A menu appears. Click on "Boards of Nursing" and will get a list of links to all the different state boards of nursing. Just pick out the one I named above. California actually has a separate board of nursing for LVNs and RNs, so make sure you chose the right one.

how long does it take to go from cna to lpn. is it a 2 year class and are their prerequisites ? thanksa sherri in Ny

Most LPN classes take one full calendar year (12 months) or 3 semesters if they are taught at a community college. You need to contact each individual LPN program to find out if there are any prerequisites as well as how long their program of instruction is. To find out where the LPN programs are in New York, contact the New York Board of Nursing. You can find a link to their webpage by looking up to the top right of this page. Click on "Links". A drop down menu appears. Click on "Boards of Nursing". A list of links to all the states will come up. Click on New York and a link into New York's Board of Nursing web site is there. Click on that. When the home page for the New York Board of Nursing comes up, click on "RN & LPN" under the heading License Requirements. The information about LPNs starts about halfway through that web document. I could not find any kind of link on the site to a list of approved LPN programs, so you will need to contact them either by writing to the address below or calling them. Once you get a list of all the approved LPN programs in the state, go through the list. Chose those that are close to where you live. Contact each school individually for information about pre-requisites and the length of their program. Good luck.
