Hi All! I just graduated Texas Tech HSC (BSN) Take boards soon. Have lived in Texas all my life and have decided I want to move to boston!! Does anyone have any adivice for me? I'm thinking about Beth Israel. I have been a nurse tech at a heart hospital for the past year and have learned alot..mostly cardiac anyways..(also a phleb for 3 years prior) but am very interested in SICU. I was thinking I might have to start on a cardiac unit first to prove myself?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I just joined this site today and I'm already addicted! ;-)

Beth Israel is a great place to work. You really can't go wrong with any of the Boston Hospitals. Alex

I agree! But research carefully. Boston and vicinity is wonderful-
lots of colleges, theatre, shopping etc. The salary might sound great,
but rents and car insurance are very high in this area.
Beth Israel Hospital is a great hospital and their cardiology
dept is tops. My MIL had heart surgery there years ago, first class
care from admission to discharge.
As for weather, New England is really fun! We have some challenging
winters at times, torrential downpours, high winds. But when the weather
is beautiful--its fabulous!!!! You'll adore Boston and Cambridge.
If you visit in summer, be sure to go to Boston Common and take
a ride on the Swanboats!!!!
Best of luck and please keep us updated!:balloons:

I would say to make sure of the housing situation. Living in massachusetts (Boston) can be expensive. I am actually moving from Cape Cod, MA to Texas after I graduate because the cost of living is much better down there and the rate of pay is not that much less for a new grad. Other than that I think Boston is great. Very diverse place with a lot to do.
