Is anyone working today in Miami at a LTC facility. What I would like to know is on night shift what would be a typical night and what is the average salary. I recently graduated and passed the NCLEX and looking into this area. -- Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I work for a LTC/Rehab center, Heartland Healthcare Center. Unfortunatley,
I don't have a lot of good things to say... If you are going to work for a LTC
facility please ask as many questions as possible during the interview. I would
even go as far as questioning some of the employees if possible before leaving the facility. Most of the facilities in Miami have very high turn over
rates.
I work 11-7 with 40 patients on any given night. I only work on the LTC unit
I refused to float to the rehab unit because it is very understaffed and overall just an accident waiting to happen. I have heard many LPNs complain about the number of patients they receive. One night this week I had the entire floor about 60 patients... I did what I could.
Registered nursing is starting to look extra good, I'm plaining to go back to school early next year. I make $16.90 an hour because I work the night shift, I make $1 more an hour on weekends. I've decided to look for a good perdiem position. The pay is higher and the scheduling is more flexible, and I don't need medical benefits.
I pray you find a good facility...just take your time don't be in a rush. :)
