8 month old, pre-reqs and clinicals, can it be done?
I started school part time when my child was about 15 months old. I can not tell you how many times it broke my heart to hear her say "Mommy are you coming home soon". Even with this struggle, I feel I did the best thing because now I can provide better for her. You need to make the choice for yourself. My best friend had a child going through school. It is hard but if you want something you can do it. Also don't think working nights will resolve the problem. You do need to sleep at times.

Is pay better in LTC facilities than hospitals
Hi I am a new graduate RN that recently passed boards 6/04 and considering to work in a LTC facilities. I have been told that start pay is better in the LTC facilities than in hospitals. Is this correct? What is the average pay start for an RN? What is the difference if you work weekend, nights? I am really curious to know. Loraine

Anyone take the HESI?
Like all, I had to take a test at the end of each semester and an exit that was a must pass with a 60%. Unfortunately I had to take the exit exam twice (or should I say fortunate). I did carry a B average in classess and graduated with a 3.2 average. With that said there were 7 of us that did not pass. So far the three of us that have taken the NCLEX have passed. To me it was a kick in the butt to get me serious. I study alot harder than if I had passed the first go around. The one that did not pass the nclex so far passed this ATI the first go around. What I feel is a waste are must pass care plan exams after each class. The ATI was a "lets see where you are after each semester". None of the students I know cared about this because it had no meaning at that time and we only focused on what we needed to know to pass the finals in the classess. I truly feel that the ATI test after each exam should be the must pass with scores being low at first and then increase as you progress in your program. If I would of focused on the knowledge I needed for each exam instead of not caring I would have been better prepared.

Is becoming a Nurse hard?
Hi, I am 39 years old and just passed my boards (RN). Age helped me. When I was younger I never took things seriously. If you really want this -- you can do it. Since I have a full time job and a family with 3 kids I decided to go to school part time. You could consider that route, it would only add approximately 1 year to your program. Even part time You must put forth alot of effortand study time to pass the classes. There are many study hours but it pays off. I not only have a new profession, but new friends for life. Good luck to you in the future.:)

Mdcc
I just graduated from MDCC in May. I have heard this rumor for the whole 2 years I was in school. What I also heard is their % of passing the Boards is going up. In my class -- 14 in my class has taken the NCLEX only 1 has not passed the first time. I know the one that did not pass will pass the next go around.

just took nclex
I know exactly how you feel. I took the test on June 1st and it stopped at 75. At first I felt really confident and then I started reading few threads that talked about people that failed at 75 and then I started second guessing myself. I found out today that I passed. If you feel really good odds are you passed. I did not listen to all the "you passed don't worry" speeches. Keep your spirits up and I will pray that you get the results you are looking for. Loraine

Taking The Nclex....
Hi, If you graduated in March 2004 at MDCC part time generic program in Miami then I went to school with you. I wanted to let you know that I had the same feelings about this test. My advise to you is to go and take it. You are ready and well prepared. I did not pass the ATI test the first time around. However I took the NCLEX test June 1st and only received 75 questions. I found out this morning that I passed........ :) Good luck and I will pray for you. Loraine
