hey, i also have an interview with lsuhsc. they called on wednesday, feb. 20, 2008 to set up an interview for feb. 27th between 12:00 and 3:00pm, but stated that interview times were in twenty minute blocks. this is very different than my recent baylor college of medicine interview, which was 7:30am till 4:30pm. i don't know about the early interview dates vs. the later interview dates. anyways, i will post below what i have found from different people on this website about the lsuhsc interviews:
i am in my 2nd year at lsu's program. seems that the less experienced applicants get asked more questions. here are some of the topics asked to me and some that were asked to other people:
know ventilator settings: cmv, pcv, simv, ps
know what the pressures obtained from a pa cath mean
know the receptors effected by drugs like epi, norepi, dopamine, atropine
why do you wan to be a crna (having shadowed a crna for a day and talking about that experience is good)
they kind of take the interview where you take it, so make sure you are comfortable to be questioned on topics that you bring up. good luck
how did the interview go?
it went really well.... i got accepted! it was more a "meet and greet" and info about their program than a drill session. they did not ask me any clinical questions. they asked my friend 1 question but it was pretty basic.
i can not wait to start in august!!!
Thanks, I've been trying to search the site for specific LSU-related topics as well. They called me the 21st at 2pm and I was sleeping since I work nights. Ms Dukes said I could call back Monday AM to set it up. So, I'll probably have about a week? That's good since I'm trying to just freshen up on the basics (vents, drips, etc). Good luck with yours - let me know how it goes!!!
I have friends in LSU's CRNA program. They all had CCRN before they interviewed. They were all accepted. Their interviews were basically meet and greet. Only one of them had clinical questions that were pertaining to vent management. Be prepared to detail your plan for how you will pay for school and live without the income that you are accustomed to. Also, you will likely be asked about your social support system (friends, family, significant other).
Good luck in your interviews. I'm an LSUHSC grad but their anesthesia program was my second choice for school.

I received a call to schedule my interview with LSUHSC - yay!!! I have a question about the interviewing process there. I heard that there might be two groups of interviews. The first, they are pretty sure they want and the second, the ones they want to choose from. I also heard that the first group finds out if they made it before the second group. Does anyone know about this?
