Hi everybody,
Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.
Just incase anyone is curious...... This is what you can expect at LSU-SON
Its not easy. If you are coming from LSU in BR get ready for a little "culture shock". You will have to study a lot, and the first semester can be rough because it is so much more studying than most people are used to. (I have studied a cummulative of 50 hours for some tests)
Don't believe anyone who says it gets easier. It simply isn't true till the end of SrI semester. You will get used to the workload as time goes by but it can still be stressful
You will spend a lot of time just at school/clinicals. Though you may only have 12 hours of class, you will also be spending a lot of time in the hospital which can be a drain on your energy being that you will likely stay up the entire night before preparing for your hospital clinical. This is prob hardest Soph II because its all new, but by Sr I ICU its a walk in the park.
Care Plans suck, they seem pointless. Its just a thing you gotta deal with.
Try to make new friends. Its good to be able to study with people in your class. Yall will soon find your selves talking about school constantly and everywhere you go. Even at a bar some how the topic always seems to get back to school or nursing. Its kinda funny how that works.
Its a BSN program so there will be a lot of B.S. You have to take a lot of classes that don't seem relevant.
Like any other school, there are good and bad teachers or it may be better to say you will click with some teachers more than others.
Living in NOLA is awesome. Lots of cool school parties and fun places to hang out.
You are gonna learn a lot. Stuff may not click for a while but as time goes by you will realize how much you have learned and how a lot of it becomes second nature.
Can anyone tell us what books we need for the first semester? I'd like to start looking for some.
Also, I know in previous posts, someones said that older students were emailing to sell their books and all that, but I haven't gotten any emails.
Has anyone been getting mail in their lsu nursing email?
Thanks!
just because I love this site, and I'm anxious about starting school...Who else is so ready for advising, buying books, meeting classmates, and getting to the grind of studying?
I am!

Has anyone gotten an email conformation of Pre-advising times? I submitted the form requesting the day but I haven't heard anything yet.
