Hi--
I am currently applying for license endorsement to the LSBN as part of the process for my H1-B application. LSBN requires foreign nurses to submit a SSN. Can someone help me get through this?
Here are parts of the instruction by LSBN:
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENTS & PROCESSING BY INTERNATIONALLY EDUCATEDNURSES
1. If you do not already hold a U.S. Social Security card, contact the U.S. Social Security Administration directlyand apply for one at The United States Social Security Administration. This process can be lengthy and should be started as soon as possible. A U.S.Social Security card is a mandatory part of the LSBN's RN licensure process and should be included with yourapplication. RN licensure will not be issued until the SS card/number has been obtained by applicant.

You can not get a US SSN without a visa giving you valid permission to live and work in the US. What is LSBN?
Hi Silverdragon,
LSBN - Louisiana State Board of Nursing
So you mean it is nearly impossible for a nurse who hasn't been to US to get an SSN? Why would LSBN require SSN for license endorsement?
*Please refer to the instruction by LSBN on how to get SSN for international nurses.
Lots of states require a US SSN either initially or renewing and endorsing. In theses cases you can get through most of the process only a license will not be issued until a US SSN is supplied once you are in the US on a work or immigrant visa
