Ohio Board of Nursing - Law and Rules
The LPN may enter the location and date of the CAA. The LPN can "contribute" but cannot initiate a care plan.(F) "The practice of nursing as a licensed practical nurse" means providing to individuals and groups nursing care requiring the application of basic knowledge of the biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences at the direction of a licensed physician, dentist, podiatrist, optometrist, chiropractor, or registered nurse. Such nursing care includes:
- Observation, patient teaching, and care in a diversity of health care settings;
- Contributions to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing;

PLEASE HELP! I need an answer to the question below and am looking forward to your responses and would like to thank-you in advance.
In the state of Ohio is it within the scope of practice for an LPN MDS Coordinator to write and sign each individual CAA that he/she does as long as an RN signs sections V0200B1 and V0200B2 (completion of CAAS) and Z0500A and Z0500B (completion of MDS)?
I have an E-mail out to the Ohio Nursing Board also but am being impatient and thought that one of you may have the answer for me before next week. :)
