Hey guys! I am a aspiring:nurse: nursing student and i really am confused. I am not sure which path should i take to become a nurse. My goal is to become an RN and i am debating if i should take LPN school now then transfer to an LPN to RN program later.I went to MCI (RN Program) and i was told it was 39,000! I went to Fortis College (LPN program) and was told it is 28,000. I tried the community college way but it is so many prerequisites and i dont have much time i have 2 boys and i an a single mom. Should i just go to MCI pay 39,000 and get it over with. I am considering LPN but i dont know if the school is worth it considering my future salary. Please no negative comments i really need help!

MCI has an LPN course as well. It is $32500. Keep in mind that Fortis only has provisional accreditation. If the school does not get accreditation, many work places, schools that you would transfer to, etc., will not recognize the program, so you'd have to do everything all over again. If you have some of the necessary college credits within the last 7 years needed for MCI's RN program, I'd suggest that route. I will be starting MCI's LPN program in Virginia Beach July 26th. I chose that route because I don't have the time for Community College, and I can only attend school at night. I have some college credits, but they are 14 years old and not acceptable for transfer to MCI. I could opt to apply to the RN program, take the pre-req's of math, chem & computer and hope I get accepted, but if I don't, there's no guarantee that I'd be able to start the LPN program immediately and would have to wait several more months before the next program starts. I plan to do one of the bridge programs once I complete the LPN program and am working as an LPN. I want to go for the BSN and maybe eventually MS.
Hope this helps. I don't know if there are anymore spaces, but the next LPN program starts July 26, so if you're interested, I'd call them right away.:)
Good luck whichever route you choose!
