LPN with a TPP do I need an RN? PA

Published

Hello I am a LPN in Vermont and recently moved to PA got a TPP because there was an hour difference. I was just offered a LPN job to start tomorrow morning today at an assisted living facility. I am feeling very uneasy about the offer because the facility does not have any RNs employed. I called and let them know that I didn't think I was allowed to work with a TPP if there wasn't a RN working to supervise but they reassured me they have had another LPN work with a TPP. I feel like it will be my license on the line if I accept the job. I am a brand new nurse with no experience and would be the only licensed nurse on a second shift dementia building. I am feeling very uneasy about this entire thing. Mostly at this point tho I am very worried about the legality. On my license it says "A graduate practical nurse may only practice professional nursing under supervision and if the graduate practical nurse holds a current temporary practice permit. ‘‘Supervision'' means that a licensed registered nurse is physically present in the area or unit where the graduate practical nurse is practicing." I have called the PA state board and they said I should contact a personal attorney which I don't have. Any advice and input is greatly appreciated. Along with how to get a job as a LPN with no experience its been a long process between moving and transferring the license to finding a job I am feeling very discouraged and disappointed :( I just want to help people! And have a better income to support my family!! Ugh.
