Hi everyone,
I've been thinking of applying to the Spring 2012 BHCC program. Currently I am an LPN student at another community college; however, I've decided that this is not the route I want to take.
I believe I read on the BHCC website that one may be exempt from the TEAS test if he/she has previously taken English and Math based on his/her grades. Can anyone confirm this?
I have previously applied to an RN program which based admission on the Accuplacer (Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills, and Math). Apparently the school accepts students primarily based on the reading score (critical thinking). Unfortunately for me, my scores were 101, 117, and 119 respectively. Consequently, I did not get in, which is why at the time I chose the LPN route.
I hate to throw away the year I spent as an LPN student (BHCC will not accept those credits), but I think it's in my best interest to get into an RN program now. I've completed all of the prereqs except for the Drug Calculations course which I intend on doing over the Summer.
Has anyone else here had a similar experience and if so would you please share? I'm also wondering how difficult it is to get into BHCC. Do you think it will be worth my while to try applying?

bhcc has really strict policies with their application process, esp for lpns...its quite ridiculous...for one, they dont even let you mail in your application!!!! and you have to take a dosage calc course that only they offer!!! i would try roxbury cc if u are in or around boston...good luck!!!
Hi Kgusty,
Yes, I saw that Dosage Calc Course on their website. I was thinking I could do it over the summer. I'm willing to take it only b/c it's only a one credit course and not that expensive. I haven't thought about looking into RCC, but I guess I should keep all of my options open. I was thinking about BHCC b/c I work in the area. Ideally, I'd like to go there or somewhere on the South Shore which is where I live.
Thanks so much for responding! Are you in an LPN program?

To be considered for the rn program at bhcc you have to complete college writing drug calculations a and p... Its very competitive ive heard they base their desicion mostly on the teas exam... Im scared too planning on finishing my pre reqs by dec 2011 and apply to fall 2012.. Btw there is a waiting period to know if u got in like 6 mnths
Hi Msolana
I heard it's very competitive too. I'm kind of scared of taking that teas exam. I had no idea about that waiting period though! Good luck with your prereqs!
thanks you too!

Waiting period is about 8 weeks, not 6 months.

So you would go to an LPN program, then take a full RN program? Why not just bridge? If they wont accept your credits there then maybe you should look elsewhere, there are good schools online also.
