Hello Guys,
I am new here and I hope somebody will be able to answer my questions. I am an LPN student here in Cleveland, Ohio. I will finish the program this coming August and planning to start applying for work after this semester.
1. What position did you put when you applied? Do you have to visit nursing homes or hospitals and apply personally?

I am a new nurse out here in Florida. When I first applied, it was as a Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN), but I didn't get any responses. Once I got my license (about 2 months ago), I then began to apply as a LPN. I did all my applications online and was contacted for an interview. Here in Florida they have alot of openings, typically in long-term care and home health care. The only thing is that they ALL want experience (at least 1 year- up to 3 years for some ),and most do not consider clinicals as experience. I think that waiting to apply after you have a letter as a GPN would be the best route. Once you start looking, obtain the contact information of the DON's (particularly their email address) at the facilities you apply. Email them a letter similar to a cover letter, sell what qualifications you do have (even it's just clinical experience), attach your cover letter, resume, and references as well. These are some tips I got from another post here on the website from an RN.
