I have been accepted at Americare School of Nursing, and am awaiting FinAid okay. Getting nervous about the cost of this school, as I will be borrowing all the tuition and living expenses for the year (35k). Am I getting in too deep, and perhaps should go to Orlando Tech? I am 50yrs young and don't have time to go the VCC route, and am planning on moving right to the RN track as soon as I am employed as a LPN. Any feedback would be appreciated!

36k seems excessive for an LPN programme!! That's an entire year's salary unless you have 2 jobs.
Orlando Tech is one option as well as a programme in Kissimmee by TECO

That figure includes a loan of 18k for living expenses while I am at school. I don't think I can work while attending school full time. The tuition is 17k. Has anyone been to Americare that can give some feedback? I have tried to call Orlando Tech several times and have been treated very rudely over the phone.
Yes, that is pretty steep! That is 17k for tuition and 18K to make ends meet while I am in school for a year. The good part is I can start school in 2 wks. I was having a very difficult time getting some answers from Orlando Tech, and the women answering the phone were very rude. Has anyone gone to Americare?

RUN......Seriously that is way to much for an LPN education. I checked into them and didn't like the way they try to pressure you to enroll "right now" of course if I could make triple what the other schools in the area charge I would want you to sign up now before you found out as well. I am going to be going to TECO in Kissimmee. I start in August. There is no waiting list and the entire admitting process took me less than two weeks (TABE test, NET exam, drug screen, interview). The cost is just a little under $4000.00, they have almost 100% pass rate for the NCLEX. It would be insane to put yourself into debt for that amount of money when you can get an education that is as good (I've heard it's actually better) than the one you would get at TECO for much much less. The next class will start in January I believe and if you enroll now you are just about guarenteed a spot depending on your test scores (need a 12 on all parts of the TABE and 63% on the NET). Good Luck to you whatever you decide.:heartbeat

I hope you went someplace else. I am currently enrolled at Americare and wish I had gone someplace else. I'm taking their "pct" program and was promised a lot. Now that the class is halfway through, I'm finding out that I won't get the training or certification I was promised. I was promised hospital experience with clinicals and that's not going to happen. I was promised certification for CNA, HHA, Phlebotomy and EKG so that I would have more than one option for job opportunity. Turns out, that is not the case either. I've gone to the top administrator and he doesn't know what is going on. So to anyone who is looking for nursing schools or medical training, stay FAR AWAY from Americare!
