LPN School Grades!

Can someone give me some advice? I've been a C average student since starting school in September,my nursing advisor is making comments now to me saying Ive been just teetering along all year and she is holding pell grant $ from me she says "Its the school policy" I want to see if your going to make it through until 4th quarter. I honesstly have tried, I'll admit sometimes I could have studied harder and longer but mostly I cant remember alot I've studied when it comes to taking tests!! If anyone has some advice please help! I really feel so discouraged and just feel like quitting. I know I would make a good nurse but its my grades!! I feel this school prefers young and smart students from the different things that have happened this year with other students! Sorry this is so long! Any advice is appreciated!

I see no reason for her to "hold" your grant. In my school you must maitain a C average. If you weren't entitled to that grant you wouldn't get it. Pell grants are awarded twice a year. If your in school and carry enough credits and maintain a C average you should be collecting your $. You didn't mention being on academic watch. I think you ought to talk to somebody in the financial aid office. Did somebody in there hand over your cash or what? Is this instructor a part time financial aid officer or what? Are you telling us everything?[/QUOT

Continued from 1st part of reply- I have maintained a C average, that is above an 80 in every class and a couple B's. But shes like telling me I wont make it!! :

I've not heard of an LPN school being run by a hospital. You stated that it was the school's policy in holding the check. Is that is writing somewhere? Any 'policy' should be in writing. Maybe the instructor knows something about your grades you don't know. You need to check this out.

Hi,

I feel for you. Nursing school is hard! You need a routine and organization to your studying. I would buy the books "so and so made easy." Go to the book store and look for condensed books on the topic you are studying such as maternal health or peds. I would read the chapters in those books which would point out the important topics, then go and skim and read my big textbooks, writing notes, typing notes, and index cards. I would get up at 4:00am so i could have study time before the kids got up. Every day i would study hrs before class and after including weekends. I do not think i had one full day off in nursing school. You can do it but must make the commitment! If you currently at "C" grades you can easily pull up to "B" grades by studying. Today is sunday, are you prepared for the coming week? From a single mom.
