what is a good on-line or class you take by mail from LPN to RN. I will be finished with my LPN in sept. I want to go back to get my RN a.s.a.p. but would like to not have to go to class. Any ideas where is a good school.

Excelsior College is not an online school but a distance program that is well respected and has been established for a long time. Their website is http://www.excelsior.edu. Another school is Chamberlain, and another is Indiana State University. There are others. You should research this very thoroughly because you don't want to waste your money on something that doesn't work out. There have been some recent problems with both programs listed: Excelsior is not accepted in all states and with restrictions in some states. Chamberlain has suspended its program for out of state students. There are many threads on this website with lots of opinions and info, so you can start your research here. If you decide to go with Excelsior (which is my recommendation), please be aware that you should enroll before Oct. 1, as they are changing the curriculum on that date and you want to make certain that you fall under the old rules. Good luck in your decision.

Cherylyn,
With Chancellor's program, what school does that go through? I'm looking to go back to school so any help/info would be greatly appreciated!
(By the way, my name is Cherylyn, too and I've never seen any one spell it the same way as I do!! )
Chancellor's is a publishing company that publishes study modules for Excelsior. I believe they charge close to $5000 for their program. You can buy these books, used, on ebay, for a fraction of the cost. Read the many threads on this subject. Many people post that they were not satisfied with the books once they got them and it is impossible to get out of the contract. Only a couple of people have ever said they broke their contract with Chancellors's or Rue (Moore and Charles Frye are others that publish study material) but it took the assistance of an attorney.
I have used nothing but NCLEX prep books and the Excelsior suggested references and have had no problem passing the tests. Good luck with your decisions.
