LPN to RN - Tearing my hair out!!

Published

Hello everyone. I'm new here...

I know this subject has probably been beaten to death here, :-) but, I am an LPN in PA. I am very interested in doing a distance learning program to get my RN.

Problem is I am getting myself very confused reading all these posts.

When I do plan to do this, I plan to use Rue. The reason is that I will need all the help I can get, school was a struggle for me. It will, for me, I think, be helpful to have rue have already organized everything for me - plus in my research I found that the real difference in cost is only about $3,000 (with clinical video and all) I really want to be as prepared as possible. I'm scared as H*ll though at the clinical exam!

Anyone here that has used Rue that can give me some positive encouragement?? I really need it.

I plan to work part time (3 eves)and really try and motivate mysef to get this done as quickly as possible - any ideas how long it will take?

what the h*ll is Rue???

Go ahead and use them, it's your funeral.

I can speak from experience when I tell you their study guides are not going to give you any special benefit when it comes to passing Excelsior's tests. I would hope that if you feel compelled to buy anything you do it by purchasing a guide off ebay for a fraction of the cost and with no contract locking you into paying huge sums of money. I can tell you right now most people who start Excelsior don't finish and this is why Rue and the other publishing companies make sure you sign their contract. Of course, you don't intend not to finish but neither do the people who sign the contract. Life happens.

I would reccomend going to the CarePlan conference offered by Chancellor's when you are ready to take your clinical. This workshop is excellent, and you don't have to buy all their study guides to go to their workshop.

Carole ,

Where in Pa. are you ?

Dont use any publishing company:nono: .. Get your tabers out ! An old med surg book and get the disks from ebay and you will be fine !!!!!!!!!!!It can look very scarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :o reading all the formal study guides but trust me you will do fine with what i recommended  .

I've bought 7 rue guides and have had no problem passing the exams as a matter of fact, they are very adequate. The only problem that I have found with them is that they take sooooo long to fill out. They do come with many text books that can be used throughout your nrsg career. Any questions email me, I'm from Pa. too.
