lpn or rn in nj/nyc?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

So I have a bachelor's degree in fine arts which is practically useless I'm realizing now. :/

I've always wanted to DO something in my life that helps others, but I wasn't ready to take on that responsibility until recently when I one day woke up and felt like going to nursing school.

I live in the greater NYC area and am looking at both schools in NY and NJ. The cost of LPN programs (non degree) is at least 20k, and the degree programs are 50 and above.

I'm not sure if I should just start the LPN program now because most of them have flexible start dates and more start dates than RN programs. Since I have 0 experience, I was thinking maybe just start with LPN and work and see if I even want to be in this field. And if I decide to, then become and RN.

From what I am gathering from these boards so far is that it's easier to do a bridge LPN-RN program than go straight to RN with 0 experience. Am I wrong?

Can someone please guide me?
