LPN to RN? CC, or Accelerated BSN

Hello, all!

I'm looking for LPN to RN programs to attend, but I'm having a challenging time finding programs to get into. I have 1 year work experience as a CNA, then I went on to LPN school. I don't have much LPN experience yet, but I'm starting a full-time LPN job soon in a hospital, and I'm actually graduating with a Bachelor's soon (this coming May!). I STILL haven't gotten into an RN program.

My Bachelor's GPA will be above a 3.0, and I got Cs in Anatomy and Physiology I and II. B in Microbiology, As in all the other typical pre-reqs. I don't know if it makes sense to apply for an Accelerated BSN, or find another community college to apply to.

I've also looked into Excelsior for the online LPN to RN, but I'm not sure about that program with the statistics I've seen of the CPNE.

Any advice? Thank you!

Hi mariabellaelena. Welcome to allnurses! My feeling is, if you don't have prohibitive financial issues or family issues holding you back, go ahead and get your BSN as soon as possible. It seems likely that some of your credits from your current degree program would be transferable.

As far as which online program might be preferable (Excelsior or others), you can find a ton of information on our Nursing Student forum section.
