i applied OCC RN program for last 2 years, and failed..this year occ GPA cutline was 3.775...i will retake 3 classes to make A..because 3 classes were B,B,B+.. then my GPA will be 3.9...but I feel i am not safe even though my GPA will be 3.9..cos other students will retake calsses like I do..I cannot apply both LPN AND RN at OCC..cos they don't allow to..so I am thinking LPN, and will transfer RN..or I can apply OU 1 year acceleated RN program(BSN)..i have bachelors degree,so i can apply OU 1 year RN program ..but i have to take 2 chemistry classes to apply OU RN nursing program..if i start OCC LPN program next january, then I will graduate in April, 2012..I heard that OCC has not LPN TO RN program every year..maybe I have to wait 1 or 2 years to transfer RN program..I am 39 years old..time is very important too..what is best for me?

I think you should gather and organize your thoughts and then post them. Not the other way around.
I know that sounded snarky and I'm not trying to be mean, but it would make it easier to address your questions.
I would advise you to get your RN as soon as you can. If you can get your GPA to 3.9, that should go a very long way to getting you into a program. After that, you can make decisions on further degrees.
sorry, and thank you for your advice..i was confident i would get in occ RN this year, but failed...that made me crazy..
Hi, Anne,,i try to send private message to you, but i can not..
i will retake nutrition, physical ed in highland campus..nutrion was B+..physical ed was B..
OCC lpn select 27 students every year at southfield campus..15 students can transfer to Rn at OCC..OCC calculate your GPA of prerequsite classes for RN and GPA of LPN course..people advise me 3.9 will be safe..but i do not feel safe..cos GPA over 3.6 students can get 3.9 easily if they retake 3 classes this year..this is cazy..
OCC RN GPA cutline was 3.575 in 2009, 3.775 in 2010..

Jay, that is really good. You got the A in the hardest classes. Nutrition is just a pain in the butt because there is so much busy work.
I know other people who did not make it and are retaking classes. I know what you mean though about not feeling safe. I am thinking that I need a 4.0 for the LPN program and hope that will be enough. I cant get into a tie breaking contest with other students because I dont have another degree or enough other classes to win.
Look on the bright side though. Just imagine what it will be like in 2 or 3 years from now. We are getting in before it becomes almost impossible. Eventually it will be a 4.0 and then they will have to start using other criteria to step up their selection process like other schools that require exams and essays, etc.
we need to encourage each other.. thank you for your advice..you will get into LPN this year..if i apply LPN this year, we probably see each other in calss:yeah:..that would be great!! but i do not decide my mind yet, apply LPN or RN..
