LPN 2011 pharmacology thread

Hi everyone. I am just starting Pharm on Jan 11. So far I have been reading through the assigned materials and today I am trying out some IV calculations. Has anyone else started Pharm or will be starting pharm soon? Lets use this thread as an on-line "study group".

What books are you using in your pharm class? I just completed my first semester and our next semester starts Thurs jan 13th.

We are using Pharmacology and the Nursing Process, 6 edition by Lilley and Dosage Calculations 8th editionby Pickar.

Our first exam is next week. We were told it is multiple choice and I am just studying based on the powerpoint, but it seems very much a general overview to me. Mabye I am not approaching this correctly, I hope I dont blow it for my first exam.

Im not starting pharmacology until summer, but i will advice you to go through the book too i just finished chemistry my first test i just went over power point i end up with B next test i read all chapters on the book and power point i end up with an A.

It looks like my thread didnt get a lot of hits, too bad. I just took my final exam today and ended up with an A in the class! Very happy

Well, I wouldn't mind studying pharm with you. But my class doesn't start until August 17th. How did you do for the semester? Any advice on studying I could do this summer? Thanks!

I will be finished with Fundamentals at the end of June. In July I will be getting my pharm books all over again to refresh myself because we have to pass math tests starting in the fall semester. (I had to pass 1 in pharm too) We are begining medication in Lab right now. This is where the Pharm will be really useful. Be back in July and in the meanwhile, mabye you can get your Pharm books early! Find out if you can get the syllabus early or whatever because no doubt you will have reading and an assignment due by the first day of class.

I start my pharmacology class July 12th for the Summer II semester. Is there any advice you can give me? It is an internet course. I should add that I am taking this as a pre-req and not in a nursing program.
