Lpn in Oklahoma wanting to move to California, process info needed

Published

I am planning on moving back to California from Oklahoma, where I have been an LPN for 18 years. Does California accept OK licensure. What is the process to get a California licensure?

Hi!

I'm in the process of doing that now...and it can take awhile...sometimes longer for others, depending on what happens I guess during your application process. Have you visited the board of nursing website yet? http://www.bvnpt.ca.gov/

You can have your application packet sent to you from that website to get started on everything. The website has a lot of information there to get you started. It is a website just for LPN's and Psych Techs; not for RN's, as they have a different website. Here where I'm from, the LPN's and RN's share the same website...You can call them in Calif. and ask questions too..but expect to wait quite awhile. However, I've noticed if you call near the time when they are closing your wait time is a lot less than normal.

~Anyway, if you want to ask me anything specific- just let me know, I'll be happy to help you if I can:)

Good luck!

The process to get a CA license is on the website. Good luck.

Thanks for your help:)

After you verify the process with the board...begin process immediately dont waste time:) I transfered from florida which only required refingerprinting and fees, no testing but my fingerprints were hard to read and had to retake 3 times! This process took over 4 months and I had alredy moved so I had to wait to work. You will find work with all that experinece:)

good luck:) welcome back to Cali.
