LPN moving to Portland

U.S.A. Oregon

I'm a nursing student about to graduate from my LPN course, in San Diego. I'm moving to Portland, OR as soon as I get my liscence. I have a few question, Is there any programs that offer LPN to RN or LPN to BSN, that wouldn't require a long wait list. I know the community college offers it but I don't like the idea of having to wait just to get into a school. In San Diego they offer it in a lot of technical schools which cost a lot but you get right in. Is there anything like that in or around portland?

I was also wondering how the job market for LPN is in Portland, do hospitals hire LPN? or who pays best?

The only hospital that I know of that hires LPN's is the VA. I'm a new LPN grad and choosing to go the Excelsior route . A community college in Washington offers an accelerated LPN to RN program but it only starts twice a yr and you have to have 1000 hrs as an LPN under your belt first. The only other college I know of that offers a bridge is Portland Community college and you have to have all of their pre-reqs completed and the spaces are limited to who has been dropped each semester so they both are a wait. They don't make it easy here to become an RN!!!! If anyone knows a college who does offer LPN to RN let me know, I'd love to do anything besides excelsior's CPNE!!! You can PM me and I'll give you the scoop as far as I know it. The school that I graduated from will be cranking out approximately 36 new LPN's every 4 months into the Portland area!
