Southern California Thread

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

I thought I would start a thread to check in with LVN students and current LVN people in Southern California. I'm in Glendale and tomorrow is my second day of school. I have a quiz on Foundations that should be pretty easy.

So I know it's super early on but I already have anxiety :o about memorizing all of the medications and diseases for the NCLEX (and class in general).

Did anyone not have a hard time in LVN school?

Also, I read on another post that there is a large wait time between taking the boards and receiving your license in California. Has this been everyone's experience?

How is the job hunt going for the So Cal residents? Have people been able to find jobs and are you enjoying yourself?

Specializes in I DONT KNOW YET.

i found a direct email address with name of the individual of the unit that is hiring. i emailed him today with a cover letter stating that 'tho i am a new grad, my clinic experience of 816 hours has given me the foundation and ability to be a competent nurse in his unit.' i attached my res.

i just pray it goes directly to him and bypassess human resources! hopefully i'll have a chance to get the interview.

Specializes in SNF, home health.
I honestly wanted to walk right then and there but i need the extra money. I am starting to become very discouraged about the whole thing. I did want to know has anyone done home health and what did they think about it because i am starting to consider that path

I'm sorry everyone is having a hard time finding work as an LVN. Don't give up, I know the frustration of "no experience, need experince". I say, go for it. HH agencies that I've been to trained me ( if you can call it that). I've been in HH since finishing school. Now 6 years, several cases later, I'm working about 65 hours a week if I work my day off.

If anyone wants the phone numbers to these agencies, just let me know. Wish I could help more.:o

I've also getting frustrated too! I got my license since the first week of April. Still I have a hard time finding a job here in orange county. If I don't have a choice within 2 months, I might work as a CNA. I will need to look for a CNA job and just wait that there will be opening on that nursing home for Lvn.
