Hello!! I'm a LPN and have been for 4 1/2years. I currently live in Illinois but will be returning to Maryland ( my home) soon. I'd like to know what the job market is like out there. It SUCKS out here. Are LPN's limited to nursing homes & doctor's offices? What about hospitals? Thanks!!

Hi there!
I'm not sure what part of Maryland your going to but I'm an RN in Annapolis. I too had a difficult time finding a job but I'm currently on a rehabilation unit of an assisted living & I know we are hiring for LPNs. As far as I know it is difficult for an LPN to get a job in a hospital around here. Hope that helps...
Thanks! Yes this helps a lot. Looks like I'm going to Chantilly, Va. I'm currently working in a rehab center too. I think I'll apply to another rehab center and work there until I become a RN.
Best of luck to you!

In MD, LPNs usually worked in LTC, subacute, school nursing (via agency), rehab, methadone clinics and doctors office. I forgot to mention home health. LPN jobs in hospitals are there but there are very few. Good luck with your search. When I was a LPN, I never had a problem staying employed. Its all about selling yourself and standing out.
Thanks! I'm looking at some job opportunities now!
