Lpn at Durham Tech ?

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello,

I am conflicted... I have all of my Nursing pre reqs out of the way along with over 130 college credits (no degree). I'm in a bit a sticky financial situation and I am considering applying for Durham techs lpn program for fall 2018. I am conflicted because I have all the pre reqs done for ADN program in Durham, but I didn't do great on my TEAS V, and my gpa lowered to 3.00. Durham tech offers both lpn and adn but I have to choose one... they admit once

Hey!

I totally understand your frustration. If I were you, I would apply to the LPN program. Use that as a stepping stone towards your ADN. If you retake the teas, you will be paying for it again..ugh..no thanks.

Side note **Im applying to their LPN program this Fall 2018**. YAAY!! My ultimate goal is to become a RN but my finances won't allow me right now. I'm going to go through the LPN program as a stepping stone, and also allow me to go to work sooner. Hope this helps!!

Good plan! I also plan on applying to the fall LPN program, maybe we will be classmates! Although I am having the issue that they are telling me (the advisors) that my anatomy (4 credits) ad physiology (4 credits) don't count at Durham tech smh... I'm trying to see if they will re-evaluate I took them as separate classes at a four year university. I already took the teas test didn't do great but enough to apply to the adn program, I also have all pre reqs but one done. That's why I'm contemplating applying to the adn... but like you fiancés is an issue. I wonder what recent grad lpn are hired and if so what salaries are like in this area.

Hey! Sorry about the late reply but I'm bookmarked now and can get email notifications!! Anywho, I went through the exact same thing with my bio's. I have a 4yr degree bio also but ended up having to take the community college level..crazy right. I even went to the Dean of admissions about re evaluating my bio credits but unfortunately there's a difference between a university and CC bio. It sucks and was expensive bc they include labs..ugh.

I know a few LPN's that graduated from there. Some are now RN's!! It's a great program and hired within 6 months including taking the NCLEX-PN. Not too sure about salary but if it's within the school limits, some have said $18 hourly starting..some have said $40,000. It really depends on where you're employed such as assisted living, hospitals, home health. Look at current LPN jobs offered and see what employers are offering. Hope this helps!!

Thanks a lot! Yeah I'm definitely thinking about applying... conflicted still with adn applications at dirham tech. I have 27pts for adn, but 32 for lpn program...

No problem!! Uhmm, you don't have a lot of time to decide my dear...LOL! February 1st is next Thursday...YIKES! I turned in my application today and I think I have 38 points. I can't get points for residency...ugh. I went to their information session last night and they mentioned cut off points for the last 2 years for all of their nursing degrees. That's was interesting to say the least. Do you remember what the numbers were like when you went to their session???

I know I might just apply to their lpn then... best to apply where my best chances are. Gosh hopefully we both get in!

Hey!! Did you ever get your bio re-evaluated?? Also, have you gotten your email about your application status from the school yet?

Hey! I decided on the Lpn and I'll put in the application on Monday. Yes the bio was evaluated and they counted as bio 163 (grrr but I'll take it)

Yay! Nice!!! I would take it too!! I got an email from them Friday saying my application was complete. That's the email I'm referring to above..lol. Have you gotten yours yet?

Wait, how long did it take them to email you saying it's complete? And which email

Ok so I'm losing it LOL!! I JUST realized that you JUST said that you haven't turned in your application yet. Soorrrryyy!! I turned in my application Tuesday and got an email Friday saying my application was complete and the points I was awarded.
