LPN depressed and feeling lost.

Hi, I am getting so down at trying to find a job in the field I know I was meant to do in life! Just wanted to share incase someone else had suggestions or was in a similar case at one time. First off I went to school in 95-96 for Medical Asst. and started right off in a pediatrics office! I fell in love and knew that was my calling and several doctors, patients and co-workers confirmed it all the time. I switched around between a few doctors but learned more there that I did in my nursing school. :) Anyways after 8 years of that I decided to go back and get my LPN knowing I could only go and grow higher with that. Well in my small county we have very cheap doctors who rather pay medical asst. thier pay and not pay a nurse her pay. Also there are no pediatric specialty clinics in my area, and nothing I can remotely do. The closets thing would be an hour away in Tampa and being a single mom of two kids, I could proably do it, but by the time I get LPN pay, and pay for gas, repairs and time spent on the road it would equal out to what I am getting here now. Is there an area of peds I am not thinking about I should explore? And forget about working for the school system!LOL That would only pay my water bill!!LOL Thanks for listening and any imput you may have!:o

NO advice here, but I certainly can feel your pain. I'm an RN in acute care at a peds teaching hospital. BEcause of my grandmothers health me and hubby are moving in w her. Out hwere she lives ther isnt much as to peds clinics or hospitals. I would LOVE to go to an OP clinic and yet the only openings I see are for LVNs (ironic huh, AND its in a pedi clinic!). Well I hope our able to find something. Maybe on the peds floor at the local hospital?
