No.A good friend just finished CRNA school. Are you determined?Do you have the resilience (& brains) for CRNA school? Then you can do it. But shoot, get done with your BSN first:).

As a former LPN who is now an RN working towards her BSN, I can say that it can be a lot of work. Many of my classmates spend a much greater amount of time than I do working on classwork. I think that a lot of it depends on you and your personal situation. I am really glad to be done with my BSN in a couple of months. I have two kids, and I am lucky enough to have a supportive husband (also an RN), who has really worked hard beside me to make sure that a lot of the household things are taken care of. Without that, I don't think I could have done it as well. One of the things to keep in mind is that to get into a CRNA program, you will need incredible grades, so that is important too. I believe that CRNA programs are among the most competitive to get into right now. The work tract that you have in mind seems to be a logically progressing one, as well. Once I am done with my BSN in December, my husband will begin his BSN, and he plans to go right for his NP in critical care, after he is done with his BSN. He is 44 years old now, and likely won't be licensed as an NP until he is near 50 years old. It is what he most wants, though, so it's worth it to him. I'm 40, and I plan to go back after a few years and work towards my MSN as well, but not as an NP. Good luck in whatever you choose!!

I'm 28 but not married. Having kids during CRNA school is really ill advised. If you're going to do i would do it soon, or wait until you are done with CRNA school. Remember you still need at least 2 years of ICU to apply for CRNA school, 3 if you want to be really competitive. So you do have some time.

I am currently in CRNA school, I agree that having kids while in school is ill advised, and you are not too old by any means. I, as well as many of my classmates, only had 1-2 years ICU experience and we are all in school. If you can get your BSN sooner rather than later that will help, as well as surgical experience possibly getting into a SICU. Good luck!

28 isn't old for CRNA school by any means. Many of my classmates are in their 40's, and they are some of the brighter students in the class. Don't let age deter you.

I'd highly advise holding off on kids if you want to pursue anesthesia. My wife and I wants kids but we've agreed to wait until I finish, or get close to finishing, before having kids. I'd say half my class has children, most of them not over the age of 5, and it is rough for them. It's doable obviously, but why put that stress on yourself if you don't absolutely have to. If you've got a great support network, such as parents who would act as daycare/come over and cook meals for you, then it would be much easier. I've got some classmates who have that type of help and makes a world of difference.

I did lvn, adn, bsn and just started crna school this aug. I'm 38. Have four kids but they r all older. Do school asap, kids later.
