Hello all -
I am a LNA looking to become a LPN. :) I am starting 1/08 for a 18 month program. Do you find in the working world that it matters which college you got your degree from? Also, do you find most people who are a LNA dont want to continue to be a LPN or RN?
Thanks!

In the real world, it usually does not matter where you attended school, most places only care about two things: state approval and/or national accreditation and valid licensure for the state you reside in. An LNA is equivalent to a nursing assistant, correct? Many NA's go on for LPN or RN, on my unit I would say most are in school, with few exceptions. Hope that answers your questions.

I never knew there was such a title as a LNA. I don't think that it matters which college you get a degree from. What matters is that your are accredited, state approved, and practice within your scope of nursing for your state in which you plan on working in. I do hope this helps. I wish you the best of luck in everything that you do. May God bless you and may you go far in life. :balloons::)

I dont think it matters what college you go to. What you put in is what you get out of it. If it is an accredited program..then it shouldnt make a difference where you go. :balloons:Good Luck:balloons:

In the real world, hiring managers do not really care about where you attended school. Their main concerns are that you have a license, a pulse, a warm body, and a willingness to fill their empty shifts. As long as you're a warm body with an interest in the position that needs to be filled, potential employers care about nothing else.
No job interviewer has ever asked me about my schooling.

Please keep in mind that I am only in pre-nursing, but this is how it is here: if I receive my LPN certificate from a vocational school rather than from the community college, my credits won't transfer to the LPN to RN program I want to eventually enroll in.
Just my two cents.

I would like to attempt to answer the second question you ask about LNA,also known as CNA,in my part of the country.Do they continue on to become an LPN or RN ? I do not think, you can one answer that would cover the whole group. I also think, you would be better served,if you only focus on you and your goals, and not be influenced by others in a negative way. I have seen a lot of that going on.Do not let anyone discourage you. Surround yourself with positive things and people who will cheer you on. I find this whole message board very encouraging,so it is a part of my online support system. In real time,I keep people in my life who cheer me on,as well as I do with them.
I would like to thank all of you for your responses & encouragement.
To answer one of the questions, the school I am going to is a secondary thus no continueing onward to RN. I will most likely do so online as that will be much easier for work life balance.
Its a long term goal for me & I look forward to one day achieving it. :)
Much fortune to each one of you in your nursing goals!
