If I graduated as an LPN from a Tech school & got a certificate (note: my school is accredited by the NLNAC (National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission) is there anyway to get myself into a RN program & get a degree? I am planning on moving to New York would it be best to wait a little in Florida (where I reside now) to get experience? Or would I have a chance of being hired in NY as long as I get my NY LPN license?

i went through a vocational program in missouri. i was able to apply to the 3 local rn and bsn programs here...the only thing was that my classes didn't transfer...well, they don't affect my gpa. i am still classified as an lpn, i don't have to take those classes again, they just don't really help or hurt my grade point. i chose to go through excelsior for my rn, and they transferred everything i thought they would from my previous college experiences, so all i have to take is the nursing classes, microbiology and the anatomy class...i was able to pay the local cc to transcribe my physiology class so it shows up on my transcript as if i actually took it there...other than that, just make sure you have whatever prereq's the schools you are looking at require. good luck!!

.. from what i was told.. parts of fl are more in demand than that of nyc.. here in south fl you have a choice of 3 lpn tech programs: atlantic tech - coconut creek, fl; mcfatter - davie, fl; and sheridan tech - hollywood, fl.. of course there are other schools like lindsey hopkins, and mercy.. but those 3 are the ones i done my research on the most ..
the good thing about these 3 schools.. is if you wish to get you rn degree.. you are able to transfer up 13 credits to broward college towards a rn associate’s degree (its basically the 2nd half of their 2 year program).. when applying to their nursing program.. you'll have a leg up on the competition since you are already a nurse:up:.. another good thing about broward college is that they work hand-in-hand with broward general medical centers.. . . :typing but like i always say do your research :typing.. get the facts; graduation rate, pay scale, etc. .. hope this helps.. good luck!
