I grad this December with my RN, BSN and am looking into working at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, IL. I am also hoping to start my masters degree there next year. They told me that a new RN starts out at $24.50/hr. Anyone have any experience working/attending grad school there? Thanks for your help!

Well, it's a huge hospital with just about every specialty under the sun! I know some people who work there and if they are full-time employees, they can go to grad school for free. I'd check out the university's website first, though, to make sure they have the Master's program you're interested. They have a limited number of nursing grad programs so if you're looking for something specific, it's definitely a good idea to check that out first.

I worked there as a new grad also. I can't tell you how much I learned and the awsome support from the fellow experienced nurses there. I had the same intention of obtaining my MSN right away but found scheduling difficult. The only downfall is the rotating shifts make it nearly impossible to go back to school. 3 weeks nights/ 3 weeks days etc. In fact, the rotation is why I ended up leaving. Ask about parking. When I left, new hires had to park in a outlot and be shuttled in. If you have any interest in ICU, Loyola's MICU is an excellent place to learn.

I've been to Loyola this past year with family members and they have just built a third parking garage (two are staff, one is for visitors) so it's probably all on campus now.
