Low GPA but bachelors degree

Published

I'll graduate in December with a bachelors in human development and family studies. I did awful in A&P. I had my tonsils removed and some other personal events. I know that isn't a reason but now I'm not sure if being accepted into nursing school can even happen. I'm willing to apply to community schools but should I retake them and then apply? Not sure the best option... Someone please help!

Unless you are applying to an ABSN program, your previous degree GPA shouldn't be a factor. Most nursing schools look at your pre-reqs grades and GPA. If you have less than Bs in your pre-reqs, then retake them to be more competitive. All nursing schools (except for for-profit) are highly competitive. ASN programs at community colleges are just as competitive as university based BSN programs.
