Hey all. Wondering if anyone else is going through the extra stressful process of applying to ABSN programs with a low GPA. My cGPA from undergrad (albeit at a very respectable university) is a 2.93, just shy of that critical 3.0 mark. My pre-req GPA is more in the 3.1-3.3 range, dependent on how its calculated, and some pre-req are still in progress. GRE 1340.
I had applied previously for UVM's MEPN program for the coming fall and was declined. Kind of expected that, as it is extremely selective.
At this point, for winter/spring 2012, I've applied to Drexel and Pitt ABSN, and Rush Generalist MSN. Considering MGH as well.
Anyone else in a similar boat, or have advice or encouraging stories?
als224,
I just got a bunch of emails from Pitt's Program today. It turns out Mr. Stein (the pre-admissions advisor I spoke with a few months ago) is no longer the pre-admissions advisor - or almost no longer the advisor... They're transitioning at the moment. But anyways, I was contacted by the new advisor and Mr. Stein. It turns out the program has everything they need from me (i.e. completed application, references, essays, transcripts, GRE, my pre-reqs were approved). So that's good news.
He said "the Admission's Committee is scheduling a few meetings in the coming weeks as there have been a large number of applicants." So that's probably bad news... haha. A lot of applicants = less chance of acceptance.
We'll see what happens... Are you still counting Pitt as an option or are you going with your other options?

That's certainly very frustrating, and is actually a bit of a turnoff to the program. Doesn't say much for their student support system or responsiveness, and you can never know if this is simply a good warning of what it might be like as a student there!
Regardless, let me know if you get any sort of response!
