LOW GPA ABSN Program NY

Published

Hi guys! So basically I plan on applying for ABSN programs in the New York Area and most of them require a 3.0 GPA. See the thing is, I graduated with a bachelors degree of psych with a 2.65 GPA. That really discourages me. Did anyone get accepted with a Low GPA? If not, what route do you suggest I take? Because at this point I still need to take the science prerequisites or should I just go do the ASN program?

My story is almost identical to yours. Also NY is extremely competitive even for an associates. What I did was I went back to school for LPN. If you can pass a basic math/reading/science test, you’re in. Now I’m going to be starting an LPN-RN bridge program in the Fall. This route is easier because you obviously need to have your LPN license to get in. That gives you an advantage over someone that’s coming straight out of high school or someone with just good grades with no medical background. The great thing about nursing is that there’s so many routes to take to achieve your goals. Good luck!

Yeah OMG I completely agree! Wish I would have started nursing earlier. But what colleges in NY for the LPN program?

Try TCI in queens, or AMG in Brooklyn. I’m sure there’s others but I’m not familiar with them. It’s about 13 months long. Feel free to message me if you have any questions ?
