what do you love about oncology nursing?

I am interested in working in oncology..i love hearing inspirational stories, patients that touched your heart, and just aspects of the job that never make you want to leave. Feel free to share :)

I love the relationships with the patients. Since some stay for long periods of time and some come back frequently, you get to know them and their families.

I like the pt teaching because it can make such a difference in their lives: Oral care, diet for radiation therapy, diet changes to increase protein levels and therefore albumin, pain management, coping skills and the grief process.

I LOVE it when I can relieve someone's pain or nausea that was previously uncontrolled.

I love the patients that will reach out and hold your hand even though it's not my hand that needs holding!
