Help! St. Frances Cabrini

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Considering a job offer in the ICU at St. Frances Cabrini!!! any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!!

Are you a new grad?

What do you need to know ?

Yes I am a new grad, but any and all information would be helpful.

I am wondering the types of patients seen in the ICU (heart, lung, DKA etc)

Is this a good place to work? from my tour and run through I thought it was great!

Do you feel you are given opportunites for growth?

I have lots of questions and am very willing to talk one on one if you want

Thank you!

I know many people that work their and they have stated that they love their job, the ICU is a very hard job to land as a new grad and it will be a great experience, I'm am about to start RN clinicals in the fall 2016. The pay for new grad is 22.30 for a new grad with night and weekend differential pay.

They have a CVICU so I doubt you have many cardio related patients. Actually the ICU is what made me want to be a nurse.

Definately, I had a couple other offers and this was the only one for ICU! I am taking it for sure and just wanted some more info on the hospital.

I am moving from Houston so it is a big deal!

Will you have your clinicals at Cabrini?

The ICU is my passion and I feel it can get you anywhere you want to go in nursing from ICU experience

I'm attending NSULA so my clinicals will be at Rapides General medical center. What level trauma center is your hospital ? Cabrini is only a level 3 if you wanted to consider that for your decision.

yeah I know its not as complex but I really want ICU so that is a big deal for me.

i am mainly just wanting to make sure that its a good place to work and that it is busy because I fear being sen home becasue of not enough patients

Trauma center designation is based on a number of factors - some of which are barely relevant to patient care. Its not an indicator of the quality of the nursing environment, particularly for a new grad looking for the right place to launch his/her career. Point for consideration - Trauma Center designation incurs a much higher financial risk for unreimbursed care. In light of the precarious state of LA state financials, it may prove to be a huge liability.

I am going to wait to see how my interview with Methodist goes back home! Fingers crossed
