I was wondering if anyone is starting or enrolled in one of their nursing programs. If so, do you live on campus and how do you like it?
I have been accepted into their ABSN program and I'm really excited. The school has great NCLEX pass rates.
Hello @Gatorgirl4 and @geauxtigers13
I just received my conditional letter of acceptance into Louisiana College's accelerated nursing program. I live in California, but I'm willing to make the change in order to become an RN. I was wondering if you have found any information regarding cost of tuition and length of the program? Have you guys done interviews? Also any info for apartments close to campus would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi, I believe the overall tuition should be around 25,000 and the program is 16 months. My interview was basically a phone call saying that they were impressed with my application. I am going to make the drive down there tomorrow so that I can look into the apartments I'll post what I find.
There aren't really any nice apts there. Magnolia trace looks really nice but they are overly expensive. Each couple days I called to check back with them they raised there price a hundred dollars more, that's a lil skeptical. It went from 865 to 1030 in two weeks. Beau Terre is nice but they barely have any apts available. Hermitage is decent and the people are friendly. Rosewood is also decent.
In doing some research on this school I have discovered some alarming news of state of accreditation for this college. I have no intentions of displaying the school negatively, because I still believe this school can be a wise choice to earn a great education. However, I just wanted to make you aware that the school was on probation from SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) for two years up until they were granted reaccreditation in December 2013. If the school did not receive reaccreditation in December, they would have lost their support from SACS meaning that a degree from this school would not be recognized by other institutions. So if you were planning in the future to get your Masters in Nursing or go back to school to be a Nurse Practitioner this would be troubling news.
However the school did receive reaffirmation of accreditation in December so that is good news! However, just three months later, local news (The Town Talk, Newspaper in Alexandria, La) has shed light that the documents submitted to SACS may have been forged. If you search local news you can find more information on the issues the school has dealt with over the past year. Apparently there has been protest by Alumni and students to remove the president of the school. Yesterday the board of trustees met with the President and there should be a vote to either keep or remove the President. Just wanted to let you all know of these issues. If you have any further information on the issue please let us know. If you want to send me a message feel free.

I am from Chicago. Yes I will be attending. I spoke with Liz and I don't have precise information about orientation. I do know that we will have to be on campus at least a week prior to classes starting on the 25th of August, I believe. If you don't already have BLS for Healthcare Providers, you'll complete the course during that week as well. I'm done with all of my prereqs. I will have to take the 2 courses from LA College over the summer.
