losing sleep over which path to choose!!

Hello everyone,

I've been applying to jobs since JULY/AUG of 07 and recently got a job offer today at a pedi urgent care clinic (not a hospital), and I have an interview at Beth Israel but not til the end of the week. I have one week to accept/decline an offer with the clinic, and I've been stalling them to give BIDMC a shot. I should mention that BIDMC has not given me the time of day at all, until now, after they got 2 RN referrals from nurses telling HR to hire me!

Um, let's see what else, I have a BSN, never worked as a PCA/aide/CNA, regrettably, and am interviewing for an intensive care position at BIDMC...as negative as it may sound, i feel like i have no shot at this job...my friends that referred me that worked in that unit have been EMT's, critical care techs, etc. But i feel like i have to give it a shot b/c it has always been my dream to work at a Boston hospital, especially BIDMC. I feel like if i accept the clinic job, I'll never work my way into a hospital b/c of lack of experience in acute care nursing. I'm also afraid the clinic job will start to wonder why i'm taking to long to accept the offer, and move on to someone else. Also, after i interview with BIDMC, i feel like they are not going to move fast enough in one week span to offer/decline me a job, and i don't want to lose out on the other job...

I'm rambling, but I just don't know what to do...did anyone ever have multiple offers happen at the same time and how did you deal with it???

thanks,

Accept the clinic job. Continue with the interview process at BIDMC. If BIDMC offers you a job and you like it, take it, then give notice at the clinic.

i'm not sure when you are suppose to start working at the clinic if you accept the job, but i would verbally accept the position, and also still go on the BIDMC interview. If your heart is telling you to go for it then do it, and be confident in your interview remembering that would be lucky to have you as a nurse working there. It's not all about skill. You obviously are determined and have a positive attitude as you have been job hunting for months and still are going after what you want!!

Good luck, it'll all come together, and work out for the best!
