Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Has anyone applied ? I'm taking the teas exam this friday i am so nervous !

today i got an invitation to take it at pierce.

Hello All, I applied for fall 2017!!!

I already took my teas and sent over the score over which wasn't that good but anything over 62% is passing so I'm keeping my fingers crossed:)

I also applied to Glendale, COC, Lattc, LA allied, and I also plan to apply to LA Valley but I need to contact them to get further information because yes it is quite confusing. I planned to apply to AVC as well but just realized the cut off was yesterday, I thought it was April 1st, applying to so many schools trying to keep up with all the dates and stuff has been a mess.

I am wondering if anyone knows the chances of getting into Pierce on the first shot, I really wont to start the nursing program for fall but with the selection being random I am just wondering how exactly does that work. Is it really random!

Hi!

Glad to hear of others that are on the same boat as we are! This is actually the first time around I'm applying to any colleges for the program so I'm assuming if they say random it should be. As long as we have all that was asked for, then it's all luck after that! Coc is point base and some small percentage is lottery. So if I'm not lucky with lottery I'm hoping the point system gives me a chance. I can only imagine how many great candidates applied...in so nervous!

Is Pierce your first choice?

For valley college you have to call towards the end of march to schedule an appointment with a counselor to evaluate your transcripts and then get it signed off and take it to the nursing depertmant. That's what I was told to do, the lady who does that told me to do that but you can always call and see what she tells you cause when I call she didn't sound too happy

Hello Jess.m3

No Pierce is not my first choice, I have just been trying to apply to any school that I feel I have a chance getting into. My first choice would be Los Angeles Allied School of Nursing :) but they are on a point system and my points are not that good but fingers crossed Im still going to try :)

I took all of my pre reqs at COC but its not my first choice but if I get accepted I will for sure go!

Hello Steph17,

Thank you, I will try in give them a call sometime this week. Funny thing is I notice a lot of schools nursing department either don't answer the phone are sound like they are too busy to answer any questions.

I applied again for Pierce. I remember I was #93 on this one list. I didn't even bother because I needed to do a remediation for the teas.

I have a ? I took my TEAS VI (it was my first attempt on this version) and got a 72.7. I did take the TEAS V in 2014, in which I received a 60.7%. I did the remediation but I lost the certificate. Will they hold this against me?

Hey I also didn't pass the teas. What is the remediation about ? What do you do ?

I just got an email from coc to take the teas which means I have to send my results I'm so disappointed because this test doesn't define what type of student I am :/

what at other schools did you apply ?

i think you need the certificate because it shows that you went through the remediation

I hate the TEAS. It's a terrible way to define a student, it's like the standardized testing imo

I sent them an email. I got an email from COC saying I am a eligible applicant and will notify me in mid-April if I got in.

I also applied to: Los Angeles Allied Health, COC, Pasadena City College, CSUEB, and GCC.

I feel like I have a good chance with PCC and Allied Health.

I got an email from coc too I sent them my teas results and I already they will send me through remediation plan.

Im just so sad because this test doesn't denine who I am as a student ...

pcc minumum score is 59%

i hope they give me a chance to prove that I can do it :/

i hope you all get accepted too !

Im just a lil worried about pcc because they need to units of PE and I only had one I hope they don't count it against me :/

I don't think missing a pe class will be hold against you. You can take it during the nursing semester. That would boost your overall gpa anyway.

Do you know when they will give out acceptance/rejection letters?
