Hi. I'm taking the same test in a week or so. I recommend studying basic math concepts: add, subtract, multiply, divide for whole numbers, decimals, fractions. Also review basic algebra and geometry. This is all stuff that is taught in Jr High and early high school. The other half is basic vocabulary and reading comprehension. Look up the "California Achievement Test" online - you might be able to find some study guides. Chances are, you took this same test when in high school.
Application for Spring 2010 opened on July 1 and closes Sept 1. My application is in and I'm waiting for my schools to finish sending official transcripts. Between transcripts and the pre-entrance exam, that's all that I have left to do other than wait for the December acceptance/denial letters to go out.
I sent my application on July 1st via US mail. I called them about 10 days ago to check on status of my transcripts and that's when they told me the date. They told me to expect my package to arrive soon - I got it a couple days later. The earlier your application arrived, the earlier your exam date... that's what they said during the info session earlier this summer. The "package" is just a packet of papers to fill out and then some that has directions, map for parking, etc. When did you send yours in?
I didn't need to send high school transcripts because I already have my bachelors degree in another field. Without a bachelors, I think you have to send your HS transcripts. It's not too big of a deal though - you can just call your HS and ask them to mail it. If you're worried about your application arriving, you should call their office and ask - you'll want to talk to Erica, but call earlier in the day since she works 7a-3p I think.
I jumped around a lot with school early on. 4 different schools to get my Bachelors. All had to be sent. I've also attended 2 other schools to get my science pre-reqs and those are the 2 that are still pending. Yikes! Yes, make sure your transcripts arrived - if they don't arrive "in time" you could be disqualified for not having them in. That would be a bummer. For my science classes, I took 2 at Moorpark college and another online at Ocean County College. You?
