Looking for a JOB!!! Advice please...

Published

Please I need some advice.(Just received license) I have dropped off several applications at SNF and LTC and have had no call backs. (Been 3 days) I know that is not a long time but I really need a job! :oShould I call the places (what would I say?) or should I wait for them to call me. Have no idea how to go about this and I need to find a job (living off of financial aid now have to have a REAL income.) thanks for any advice.

I should find out any minute if I passed my NCLEX! It's been 48 hours and I am just waiting for my results to be posted online. I had an interview yesterday at a community clinic. I live in a small town in TX. There were only 3 jobs at the hospital available when we graduated May 10. I didn't realize that they would hire the first graduates who applied even before graduation, without giving the chance for people to get a resume in, but they did. My only other option is LTC, which I am not totally opposed to. The clinic here has a lab, pharmacy, and immunization dept that you rotate through as well as the "floor" that I would be working on if hired. The pay is the same as working in the hospital on the Med/Surg floor. However, no weekends or nights and paid holiday's off. I am concerned that I will forget my assessing skills, etc...but I plan to go to the RN program next year and feel that I will do clinicals all over again and a better opportunity for jobs in the hospital when I graduate from that. Am I making a mistake?? My mom who is an LPN of 30 years was so disappointed in my choice. Said, thats not patient care. Wow, did I feel small. I believe it is patient care. Not bedside, but I think I can make a difference in someone's life even in a clinic setting. I just keep looking at all the opportunities for jobs online...they're just so far away. So may more choices in a bigger city. Thanks for letting me vent!

Mothers have a way of making small comments sometimes that make you feel well... small. Don't worry about it its your first your not your last and only. Get what you can and what you'll be able to live with. Get someone paychecks rolling in and you'll be able to move on later.
