looking for inspiration

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would like to share their thoughts on secrets to keep fresh and inspired w/in the nursing field. I've been a nurse for almost a decade now and am finding myself going to work like it's a job, not a passion. I have moments when I feel inspired, but am finding more and more that I'd rather sit and chat w/ my co-workers or read at the nurses station. I really want to be at work for my patients, not to feel like I want to slack off.

I switched areas when I started to feel that way and a bit bored, I was no longer being challenged. A different specialty helps, some I fell into by accident or my floor changed emphasis (one floor became the oncology unit, another morphed into cardiology, once when we moved the job that matched my hours and needs was dermatology). Now I work in the ER, after nine years here am getting a little restless again, and am part time in school working on my masters.

I know you said you wanted the emphasis on the patients, rather than complaining of boredom, but sometimes that different type of patient load can do it.
