Looking for Help to Become a Nurse

Nursing Students General Students

Hi everyone,

I'm sure many of us are struggling to pay for our education. I'm struggling in my current job to pay my bills and - more importantly - provide for my child. I've got the motivation and the ability to return to school and get my BNS through an accelerated program. I'd really like to be able to continue to leave the world a slighter better place - a lifelong goal - and help others as a nurse. I'm just struggling to get there!

Here's my story: http://www.gofundme.com/8ws7bs

Not to be rude, but the majority of nursing students (and hopefuls) have a need for money. Do what most of us do, apply for financial aid.

I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask.

I wonder if you would be receptive to a little well-intentioned advice from a recent ABSN admission?

It looks like you are planning on taking somewhere between 15 and 19 prereq credits over the short summer semester, and then applying to an ABSN, correct?

Keep in mind that your GPA will likely need to be very competitive to get in to an accelerated program, and the class load you are describing would be daunting to even the most diligent student. Perhaps taking those community college credits at a more realistic pace could make the tuition a little more manageable? Perhaps the extra year could give you time to better arrange your finances, apply for scholarships, ect. There is money out there for male nurses, non-trad students, single parents, if you are one.

I understand the desire to "get the show on the road," but a little patience may serve you well.
