My name is Zach, and I'm currently in my freshman year at OKCCC. I'm planning on going to nursing school somewhere (maybe OUHSC?), and maybe transfering to OU next year.
Anyway, I want to get my CNA, but I'm not sure where to do it. I'm living in Norman, and somewhere close would be awsome.
I havent been to keen on schoolwork and studying in my highschool career, and I'm pretty worried the whole nursing program will kick my ass, so any helpful advice you can give to this youngster would be appreciated.

Hey Zach! I think it's great that you're wanting to go to nursing school at Okccc. That's where I go and I love it. I am currently a CNA and work at a small rural hospital. I can honestly say that if I hadn't become a CNA first then I probably wouldn't wanted to become a RN. You could get your CNA first and then think about nursing. TRUST ME IT ISN'T WHAT MOST PEOPLE THINK IT IS!!! But, don't get me wrong nursing field is awesome and rewarding. I've heard alot of good things about Moore Norman Vo-Tech. They also have an idependent study program for CNA's. A friend of mine took that route and thought it was pretty flexible w/ her schedule. (she has 2 kids) So, check it out!
Best wishes,
Julie

Someone told me that OSU-OKC has a free CNA course over the summer. You have to commit with a long term care facilty for a year after that and you get 3 pairs of scrubs. I would look at OSU-OKC website and see if they have someone you can call or email about it. I am interested in doing the CNA thing this summer if I dont get accepted into UCO or OU nursing program (I apply this semester).
Good luck
