Looking for my first LVN job in Houston

Published

Hi everyone! I graduated in 09 but just recently took & passed my NCLEX-PN because I was pregnant (and have been a stay at home mom since). I am now looking for my first nursing job. Does anyone of know any facilities that are hiring LVNs with no experience (in Houston or surrounding areas)? I don't really mind what type of facility as long as they are willing to train me.

Ms.Lvn832, were you able to find anything yet?

@Sirena922- Not yet..all the jobs I've been seeing require at least 6mos :(. Im not even sure how an employer would feel about me being an "old new grad". Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear that, but I do not have a clue how to help you. I myself am waiting to entry into an LPN program here in Michigan and was browsing jobs in Texas myself. I saw some in Galveston and was asking about the area. I'm not sure if the UTMB Health has a hospital or anything near you. But their Vocational nurse jobs said no experience required. I dont know how true that might be. Maybe you should look into them. Have you tried LTC's?

I have a cousin who became a LPN/LVN in Sept. 2009 and has been working in a dialysis center (in MO) since then. She just got a travel nursing job for a dialysis center in TX paying $26 an hour plus $1600 a month travel expenses. She says they will pay even more for RNs. I'm seriously thinking about it for next year, after I get my two years RN experience in the hospital I'm currently at (in MO). I would like to relocate to TX in the next couple of years or so. Anyway, I found it curious that the facility would pay so much for a traveling LPN when there are so many nurses already in TX looking for jobs. Oh well, good for my cousin I guess.
