i just graduated with a ba in psychology and all premed classes and was gonna go to medical school. however, i have had a recent change of plans and would like to become a crna. i am looking into columbia's etp program and would like advice from any who are familiar with the program
i would like to know exactly how competeitive the etp- crna program is. my gpa is about a 3.5 and there were a couple of premed classes i did not do well in and retook. will this hinder my acceptance? will it make a difference that the classes were premed and not for nursing/heath prof and was therefore much harder? does anyone know what the average gpa (and average science gpa) is of accepted students?
also, i would like to know how to improve my application. i just graduated and have not had any experience in the health field really. what kind of experience would they be expecting me to have? any advice on what to do to improve my application?
what are my realistic chances of getting in??

Okay, I'm speaking strictly as a Nursing Student, I am not a CRNA (......yet), however, ALL CRNA programs require AT LEAST 1 year of critical care experience. I also know that the competition is fierce, so a 3.5 with great GRE scores and great references you would definately have a chance. Check out the website of the school, they usually list entrance requirements (though I can tell you that the minimums required do not represent the students accepted.) Many with a 4.0 in a BSN program wait several years before they are accepted. Also look at the CRNA page on allnurses, tons of valuable info about entrance requirements and different schools.
