Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi,

So I'm looking for a job and come accross this web site. I am excited to get accounted with some other nurses I dont have any friends due to having been working for agency for the last yr. I am looking for a job close to home with steady hours. I live in Portland OR. If there is anyone out there that is in Portland and would have advise on finding a job, where a good place to work is or who is hiring or how to get my RN as cheap as possible and also as quick as possible.

Welcome to Allnurses.com!

In general, community college LPN-to-ASN transition programs tend to be the cheapest way for one to earn RN licensure, although this might not be the quickest way. When it comes to schooling, the concepts of "quickest" and "cheapest" usually do not coincide too well.

Personally, I have been an LPN for 25 years and have been stuck with trial and errors for the past 25 years in trying to get my RN, from Excelcior to College network, all a scam. Go to a bonified transition college and do the work, even if it takes a little longer, it will be well worth it.

I think it might be a tad bit unfair to refer to Excelsior College as a scam when many people have successfully completed their nursing programs. Excelsior is nonprofit, fully accredited and most certainly not a scam. However, not everyone is cut out for distance-based learning.

The College Network is definitely shady, but we should be careful to not paint Excelsior College with the same wide brush.
