Looking for advice/direction

Published

Hi,

My name is Kimberly and I am stationed in Germany with my family. I am a veteran while my husband is still in the army. He will be getting out next year and we will be moving back to the states.

I want to go to school to be a nurse, more than anything.. I definitely know that is what I want to do in life. Living in Germany, I am having to do college online.

Currently, I am getting my associates degree in general studies through University of Maryland Europe. It is online studies.

My questions are:

Should I continue this degree and transfer my credits to a nursing program when I get back to the states, or should I get an online associates degree in Allied Health Services through South University?

I didn't know if I was to get that degree, if it would be a waste when I should have just transferred credits or if a degree an allied health sciences would actually somehow help in my goal of nursing.

Thank you for any help that y'all have!

First of all, thank you for your service to our country!! Secondly, if you really want to become a nurse, I would try to transfer credits to a nursing school first. It's an individual choice, but why waste time doing another associates when nursing is what you really want to do? If you know where you will be moving to in the US, start researching the nursing schools in that area and maybe contact them to find out if the credits will transfer or not.

Good Luck!!!

Just keep it simple. Take your pre-reqs for whatever nursing school you wanna go to - transfer them there. Violla!
