Looking for advanced pharmacology online!!

Published

Hi guys, as I wait to apply for CRNA programs, I am looking to take an advanced Pharmacology course and advanced statistics. I have looked all over the internet and can not find any online graduate pharmacology courses for non degree seeking students.

I have spoken to Liberty university and they do not offer for non degree students. I applied for Arizona State University but withdrew my application due to the same thing. I looked at University of Denver and they offer it but has to be taken in order of their 3 classes, starting with advanced patho.

The only program who I spoke to that looked semi promising was University of Memphis, and they allow non degree students if there is room after all of the degree students apply. I am looking to take it online asap. Does any one have any advice? TIA.

** I am looking for advanced pharmacology because I figured it would look great on my resume when I apply because my undergrad GPA isn't the most competitive. I am willing to take any graduate class to boost my resume.

I want to take advanced statistics because my undergrad statistics course is a little over 5 years old and most schools want a recent one.

I'm not aware of any advanced pharmacology course you can take online as a nondegree student. Unless it's specifically a prerequisite for the anesthesia program you're applying to, I don't really see why you're so set on taking that particular course. While taking a science-based graduate level course (and doing well in it obviously) is a good strategy to compensate for a lower undergraduate GPA in your anesthesia program applications (I did the same), it doesn't have to be pharmacology. It makes sense to me that the University of Denver requires advanced pathophysiology first: you need to have a solid foundation in physiology before you can really understand how pharmacology interacts with and manipulates it. I'd suggest taking the advanced pathophysiology class they offer. I'm sure having a good grade in that on your transcripts would be looked upon favorably.

call admission and ask how to sign up for the class as a non-seeking degree. I am planning to take it too . Good luck

I took Adv Pharma as a non-degree student at the University of Memphis.

They actually just called me back and told me they have space in advanced pharm and patho. I think I am going to do patho. How difficult was the pharm?

I took Advanced Patho at UND. The Advanced Pharma was fine. You needed a 93 and above for an A. I got an 89.

I just registered for online Advanced Pharm as a non degree student at University of Memphis. Starts May 28 and ends August 3. Has anyone taken this course and have any tips/insight? Thanks!

Yes, I took it this semester. Tips: check the discussion board regularly. My professor posted the things he would test on the discussion board, so check it regularly. For the midterm and final, he regurgitates a lot of the material from the quizzes, so keep track of those questions and answers and know them for the midterm and final. I would have had an A on my midterm had I known that tip.

Thank you! How did you do overall? If you were taking only this class, how difficult would you say it was? While working full time overnight, do you think its going to be extra difficult?

I posted above that I got an 89. You need a 93 for an A. My midterm brought me down because I didn't know that he was going to reuse the quiz questions. I didn't think the was very difficult. I was taking two grad level nursing classes and homeschooling my children. I am not yet a nurse, but had graduate standing to take the class from a previous grad degree. If I was already a nurse, and already had undergrad pharma, it obviously would have been easier.

I apologize, I meant to say I registered for the advanced PATHO course today, which I don't think you have experience through the University of Memphis. I will definitely keep the advanced pharm in mind next semester though, thanks.
